Florian Beuerle Finishes Habilitation
07.12.2016On Monday, 5th of December, Dr. Florian Beuerle successfully finished his habilitation on "Design and Synthesis of Complex Molecular Architectures Based on Small Organic Molecules" and received the "facultas docendi".

MehrGustavo Fernández Finishes Habilitation
04.11.2016On Wednesday, 2nd of November, Dr. Gustavo Fernández successfully finished his habilitation with the title „Self-Assembled Nanostructures based on π-conjugated scaffolds“ and received the "facultas docendi".
MehrAfter last year’s visit from Prof. Linda Shimizu from US we are glad to announce our second visiting guest professor at CNC, Prof. Dr. Mahesh Hariharan from Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram. Prof. Hariharan will join us for four weeks (the whole November 2016) and his office will be located at the new building of the Center for Nanosystems Chemistry. During his stay at the CNC he will give a lecture about "Strategies to Reduce the Rate of Charge Recombination" at November 17, 5:15 pm in lecture hall C. Further he will join the winter school seminar of the FOR 1809 in Niederstetten November 24/25.

Center for Nanosystems Chemistry Inaugurated
07.10.2016On 7 October, Secretary of State Bernd Sibler inaugurated the new building to accommodate the Center for Nanosystems Chemistry (CNC) of the University of Würzburg. The centre will provide ideal conditions for the staff of Professor Frank Würthner to develop innovative concepts of harnessing solar energy among other research activities.
MehrChemists from the University of Würzburg have combined different dye molecules in aggregates and thereby observed surprising properties. Their discovery may help to use sunlight more efficiently for the generation of energy.

MehrDr. Agnieszka Nowak-Król, Humboldt fellow in the group of Prof. Frank Würthner, was awarded the 'Wojciech Świętosławski Prize 2nd degree' by the Warsaw branch of Polish Chemical Society on June 17, 2016, for outstanding scientific achievements in the field of chemistry, chemical technology and related sciences.

Mimicking the ingenuity of nature
