Every year, not only hundreds of students are prepared for their professional career in the laboratories of the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, but also up to 16 apprentices who have chosen the profession of a chemical laboratory assistant. The University is thus by far the largest training company for laboratory assistants in the Main-Franconia region and an important partner of the Würzburg-Schweinfurt Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), since the IHK final examinations take place in the University's laboratories.

Virtually every year, the University is awarded as a training company with “EINSER-AZUBI” (first class apprentice). The two responsible trainers, Dr. Alfons Ledermann and Dr. Christian Stadler are rather proud of this, but every now and then, trainees like Kirsten Schöpf surpass the usual success. With a fantastic 98 out of 100 points in the theoretical and practical exams she is the best exam candidate in the Main-Franconia region this year. Recently, she was honored at a ceremony held at the IHK headquarters in Würzburg, together with one of her trainers.

Kirsten Schöpf began her training in September 2018, directly after graduating from high school. Since she showed excellent performance in the lab and in the vocational school from the very beginning, she was admitted prematurely to the examination in the summer of 2021, for which she had to work through the school material of the fourth year of training on her own, to ultimately outperform all other examinees.

Ms. Schöpf is now looking forward to starting her professional life as a chemical laboratory assistant, with less daily commute. In the future, she will be working for a well-known analytical and diagnostic company in the Bad Kissingen district. We wish her a great start, much success and all the best.
