After a two-year break, the region's best apprentice in the profession of chemical laboratory assistant once again was trained at the University of Würzburg.

At the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, not only hundreds of students are prepared for a successful career, but also up to 16 apprentices who have chosen the profession of chemical laboratory technician. This is the biggest apprentice training group at the University of Würzburg (JMU), and no other training company in the region trains so many young people in this profession.

The faculty has been receiving the award as a training company with "First-Class Honours Apprentices" from the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for years with great regularity. These awards are occasionally crowned by apprentices such as Magnus Wirthmann. With a fantastic 98 out of 100 points in the theoretical and practical exams, he is the best apprentice in the region this year and relegates all the others to the places, including the JMU apprentices Matthias Kolbeck and Michael Henne, who also finished with excellent 97 and 96 points.

Magnus Wirthmann began the three-and-a-half-year training program in September 2021, after he had enjoyed the laboratory work much more than the many hours in the lecture hall during his studies, which he had initially begun. His ample knowledge from his studies enabled him to skip the first year of his apprenticeship. In the end, he was not only the best graduate, but also the fastest.

The outstanding examination results have now awakened in him the desire to deal more intensively with theory again. Since the summer semester of 2024, he has been studying business chemistry in Regensburg but was now happy to come back to Lower Franconia for a short visit to be honored at the 2024 award ceremony of the Würzburg-Schweinfurt Chamber of Industry and Commerce, accompanied by his trainer, Dr. Alfons Ledermann.
