Abstract: The colour and intracellular distribution of iridium(III) complexes is tuned by iClick conjugation of different biomolecular carriers”. The iClick (inorganic click) reaction enables a modular modification of iridium(III) complexes with ancillary triazolato ligands carrying biological targeting groups like biotin and cholic acid. The stability and non-toxicity of these compounds facilitates their use as biological imaging probes in bacterial and human cancer cells. Their intracellular localization can be tuned by proper peripheral functionalization of the complexes.
