Prof. Qing Ye
Qing Ye is Professor of Inorganic Molecular Chemistry at the University of Würzburg since January 2022. After receiving his B.S. degree in chemistry from the Fudan University in 2004, he went to the University of Würzburg (JMU) where he completed Diplom and graduate studies in borylene chemistry under the supervision of Prof. H. Braunschweig (Ph.D. 2012), with the highest mark (summa cum laude). After his graduate work he was further appointed as a postdoctoral research fellow (2012-4). During this period, he developed the chemistry of boron-centered Lewis bases. In 2015 he was appointed as a DFG-sponsored postdoctoral fellow to work on two-coordinate transition metal complexes with Prof. T. Don Tilley at the University of California at Berkeley (2015). In 2016, he received a DFG Return Fellowship and joined the research group of Prof. T. B. Marder at JMU. In 2017, he began his independent research career as an Associate Professor at the Southern University of Science and Technology (2017-22). In 2022, Ye accepted appointment as Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Würzburg. Ye's research interests at JMU include the synthesis and investigation of highly strained heterocyclic molecules, the development of boron cluster-functionalized Lewis superacids and their application in catalysis and optoelectronic materials, and the use of boron in secondary coordination sphere engineering.
While at JMU, Prof. Ye received the national scholarship for outstanding self-funded international students (2012), the Preis der Unterfränkischen Gedenkjahrstiftung für Wissenschaft und die JMU (2013). At UC Berkeley, Ye received a DFG reserach fellowship (2015). He was the recipient of the National Young Talent Program of China (2016), Peacock Plan Awardee-Category B by Shenzhen Municipal Government (2017).
