Florian Beuerle Finishes Habilitation

12/06/2016

On Monday, 5th of December, Dr. Florian Beuerle successfully finished his habilitation on "Design and Synthesis of Complex Molecular Architectures Based on Small Organic Molecules" and received the "facultas docendi".

Florian Beuerle studied and received his PhD at the University of Erlangen before joining the group of Nobel Prize winner Sir J. Fraser Stoddart at the Northwestern University for postdoctoral studies. At the end of 2010 he moved back to Germany to establish an independent junior research group at the Institute of Organic Chemistry of the University of Würzburg. He was granted a Liebig Fellowship by the "Fonds der Chemischen Industrie" for an initial period of three years.

The facilities at the Chair of Organic Chemistry II (Frank Würthner) provided ideal conditions for Florian Beuerle's research projects. Actually, he advanced very well and soon published first results in various high impact journals. Therefore, at the end of 2013 his Liebig Fellowship was extended to the maximum of five years, followed by a positive mid-term evaluation of his habilitation in May 2014. Now, he made the final step with a nice talk about "A Nanospace Odyssey: The Emergence of Complex Molecular Architectures through Subcomponent Self-Assembly".

We congratulate him on completing his habilitation and wish him all the best for his further scientific career.
