Gold Medal for IRTG2991 PhD Student Fathimath Nafla C.M.

“I’m honored to have received the Gold Medal from Central University of Punjab in recognition of my academic excellence, having secured the first position in M.Sc. in Chemistry“, said Nafla, still excited by this impressive celebration, which was additionally graced by the presence of the Indian President.

Nafla is currently a member of the International Research Training Group IRTG 2991 „Photoluminescence in Supramolecular Matrices“, a collaboration project between the University of Würzburg and the IISER Thiruvananthapuram. She recently started her PhD where she is synthesizing liquid crystal matrices based on star-shaped LC molecules. It was a lucky coincidence that Nafla was able to attend this ceremony in her home country, as she could combine the trip with the IRTG 2991 Start-up Meeting, hosted by IISER Thiruvananthapuram in South India, only the week before.
