Guest Professor from the USA at the Center for Nanosystems Chemistry
05/18/2015For two months Prof. Dr. Linda S. Shimizu from the University of South Carolina will work and teach as a visiting professor at the Center for Nanosystems Chemistry and the Institute of Organic Chemistry.
Prof. Shimizu’s research theme on "Organic Supramolecular Chemistry, Nanomaterials, Bioorganic, Organic Photochemistry, and Crystal Engineering” offers many areas of mutual interest and chances for cooperation with the group of Frank Würthner. In particular within the Bavarian “Solar Technologies go Hybrid” research cluster new avenues towards photocatalytic water splitting in porous materials will be pursued.
Linda Shimizu received her doctorate degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge in 1997 and continued her research there for two more years as a postdoctoral fellow. In 1999 she moved to the University of South Carolina where she got recognized for her excellent research work with the “Promising Investigator Research Award 2010 and the “ACS Women Chemists Committee 2013 Rising Star Award”. We wish her a very successful stay at our institute with lots of new and exciting impressions.
