Gustavo Fernández now Professor in Münster
10/26/2015Congratulations to Gustavo Fernández. After five very successful years as a junior research group leader at the University of Würzburg he accepted a call from the University of Münster as professor (W2) of organic chemistry.
In February 2009 Dr. Gustavo Fernández joined Frank Würthner’s research group at the University of Würzburg as a postdoc and Alexander von Humboldt research fellow. Thanks to his excellent academic and scientific career with many publications and several awards he was granted the highly prestigious Sofja Kovalevskaja Award by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in 2010. With the 1.63 million euros prize money he set up his own research group, which he successfully headed during five years, contributing to and strengthening research at the Institute of Organic Chemistry and the Center for Nanosystems Chemistry (CNC) in an excellent way.
With his habilitation not yet finished he received a call from the University of Münster as professor (W2) already in spring 2015, and soon after another call from the University of Ulm. He moved to Münster on October 1 and will be continuing his scientific career there as professor of organic chemistry.
We would like to thank Prof. Fernández for the pleasurable and fruitful collaboration and wish him and his team a good start in Münster.
