New research group: porous functional materials
10/08/2010Florian Beuerle is inspired by the idea of developing novel chemical systems for potential materials applications and has now chosen the Institute of Organic Chemistry in Würzburg to establish his own junior research group.
Florian Beuerle got his diploma and PhD under Prof. Andreas Hirsch at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg. In 2009, he was awarded the Staedtler Promotionspreis for his PhD thesis. Afterwards, he worked as a Feodor Lynen Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation with Prof. Fraser Stoddart at Northwestern University in Evanston.
In September 2010, Florian Beuerle was awarded a Liebig Fellowship of the Verband der Chemischen Industrie and is now starting his own independent research group at the Institute of Organic Chemistry in Würzburg. His research will be focused on the synthesis and characterization of porous functional materials in order to develop novel materials for gas storage and separation, heterogenous catalysis and sensing applications.
