Professor of Clinical Pharmacy and Applied Biochemistry (W1 with tenure track W2)

The Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy of the Julius-Maximilians-University of Würzburg invites applications for the faculty position of a Professor of Clinical Pharmacy and Applied Biochemistry (W1 with tenure track W2) to be filled by the earliest possible date as a temporary civil servant for an initial period of three years. The position is located at the Institute for Pharmacy and Food Chemistry. The temporary civil servant status is to be extended by three years in the event of excellent work performance. The continuation and appointment as a W2 university professor in a civil servant position for life will only be granted if the junior professor has proven himself or herself in accordance with the university's internal quality assurance concept.

The Professorship

The successful candidate will contribute to the teaching and research in the field of "Clinical Pharmacy". Scientists whose research is concerned with topics relevant to the pharmaceutical sciences are invited to apply.

A willingness to participate in existing and future research networks and to initiative new collaborative projects is expected. The University of Würzburg attached great importance to excellence in the supervision of students and doctoral candidates and expects high levels of engagement from teaching statt. Teaching duties will include courses in Clinical pharmacy and Clinical Chemistry as well as courses with similar content from our Food Chemistry Degree Program.

Prerequisites

Candidates should have a relevant university degree, didactic aptitude, and a demonstrated ability for scientific research as usually proven by an excellent Doctoral degree, preferably in the field of pharmacy (Art. 63 Para. 1 Sentence 1 BayHIG). Teaching for the Degree Program "State Exam Pharmacy" is done exclusively in German, such that non-native speakers should have German level C1 or Goethe certificate C2 skills at the time of employment or obtain these within the first two years after employment.

Applicants should be in the early stages of a path towards professorship and should have changed universities after completing their doctorate or, if the doctorate was completed at the Julius-Maximilians-University, should have spent at least two years working in research outside of the Julius-Maximilians-University.

No more than four years should have elapsed between the doctorate and the end of the application period, no more than seven years in the case of degrees in medicine or clinical psychology. The date of the doctoral certificate is the deciding factor (cf. Art. 63 para. 1 Sentences 5 to 7 BayHIG). An appointment as a civil servant can be made in accordance with Art. 65 Para. 1 Sentence 3 BayHIG in conjunction with Art. 23 Para. 1 BayBG only up to the age of 45. Exceptions are possible in certain cases.

The University of Würzburg aims to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching and, therefore, strongly encourages applications from suitably qualified female academics. Severely disabled applicants will be given preference in the case of equivalent qualifications.
