Abstract: The homoleptic transition-metal bis(silylene) complexes [{{iPrNC(NiPr2)NiPr}2Si}2M] (7: M = Pd; 8: M = Pt) were synthesized by treatment of [PdCl2(SMe2)2] and [PtCl2(PiPr3)2], respectively, with the bis(guanidinato)silylene [iPrNC(NiPr2)NiPr]2Si (2). The almost linearly coordinated Pd0 and Pt0 complexes 7 and 8 are two-coordinate 14-electron transition-metal species and represent unprecedented four-coordinate silicon(II) compounds with SiMN3 skeletons (M = Pd, Pt). Compound 8 is the first two-coordinate bis(silylene)platinum complex.
