"Development of Bright and Black Dyes for Molecular Imaging Applications"
Abstract:
Molecular Imaging (MI) technologies aim at non-invasive visualisation of the internal body by using suitable molecular probes (contrast agents). MI techniques have already revolutionised medical diagnosis, and upcoming techniques aim to achieve early and fast diagnosis of pathological conditions. One such promising technique is photoacoustic imaging (PAI), which generates contrast by using preferably non-fluorescent (black) contrast agents and light. My projects aimed at developing suitable probes PAI, either as stand-alone agents or in combination with reactive oxygen species. In addition, our expertise extends to superresolution microscopic imaging, in which we work with designed fluorescent (bright) probes, as well as temperature imaging. In this presentation I will present some of our work, emphasizing both organic synthesis and imaging applications.
