THE PÖPPLER GROUP: ORGANIC STRUCTURAL CHEMISTRY

Polymers, dyes, and international travels

Polymer conference in October and IRTG startup conference in February – plenty of new experiences and connections!

From the crisp air of Tatra Mountains in Slovakia to the sunny shores of Thiruvananthapuram in India – in the last few months Justyna attended two international conferences filled with new experiences.

First event took place in October, in Stará Lesná. Originally a Slovak-Czech Polymer conference, it has recently expanded its reach to an international audience. The conference brought together experts in polymer synthesis and analysis, covering topics from industrial plastics to biomaterials. There, Justyna presented her work on a poster titled “Multicompartment or not: structural insights into temperature- and concentration-responsive micelles”. The event was a great opportunity to explore polymers beyond the scope of NMR analysis and connect with experts specializing in formulation of these materials.

A few months later in February, Justyna traveled to Thiruvananthapuram, India, to take part in a startup conference of the International Research Training Group 2991, a collaborative project titled “Photoluminescence in Supramolecular Matrices”. The group came to life as a partnership between Würzburg University and the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram, bringing together PhD students from both institutions. The participants had the chance to learn about each other’s work and get together during the poster session and group discussions, or on the fun trips that the Indian students have organized. It was a great experience and hopefully a start of a fruitful collaboration!
